The MacDrive application may be available for Microsoft’s Windows operating system, but the functionality it has to offer is focused on Apple’s Mac OS X. You see, this is an application that Windows customers can use to access Mac-formatted disks. Not only that, they can use MacDrive to create or format Mac disks, repair damaged Mac disks, and burn Mac CDs or DVDs.

MacDrive will work with 32 and 64-bit Windows editions. And more to the point, it will work with Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2008. To get MacDrive up and running on a PC powered by any of these Windows editions, you must go through a simple installation process. Please note that you will have to reboot your machine to complete the installation process.

While MacDrive is running you will see an icon in the system tray. Double click it and you will be presented with the MacDrive Quick Start window. Right click it and you will be presented with a context menu that features the following entries: Quick Start, Help, Activate, Options, Hide this Icon.

The functionality MacDrive has to offer is clearly presented on the Quick Start Window. You can access Mac-formatted disks from the desktop, from Windows Explorer, or from a program. You can create, format or delete Mac disks. You can repair damaged Mac disks; the application will automatically find and fix errors. And last but not least, you can burn Mac CDs and DVDs.

MacDrive is available as a Standard and as a Pro edition. A feature comparison is available on Mediafour’s official website. Both editions are free to use for an evaluation period of 5 days.

Easily create and easily access Mac-formatted disks on your Windows PC with a bit of help from MacDrive Standard.
